Blaming The Tool

Have gun - will travel

2. Hi-Point 9-mm. 199 guns

3. Smith & Wesson 9-mm. 134 guns

8. Ruger 9-mm. 114 guns

9. Glock 9-mm. 109 guns

10. Mosseberg (sic) 12-gauge shotgun 96 guns

The handgun of choice among criminals in New York City is a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver - a compact but powerful weapon that fires five or six shots and sells for roughly $500.

The revolver sits atop a long list of guns - dominated by inexpensive 9-mm. and .380-caliber Saturday night specials - seized from thugs in the city last year, the latest federal statistics revealed yesterday.

In all, 5,511 guns were taken off criminals in 2005, with Brooklyn accounting for nearly half of the weapons, more than any other borough, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The disturbing findings were among a torrent of statistics released yesterday by the feds as Mayor Bloomberg crusades to stop illegal interstate arms trafficking.

"They need to stop guns, they need to stop handguns. The only people that need handguns are the military and the police," said Edwin Guzman, whose 18-year-old daughter, Samantha Guzman, was shot dead in the Bronx on Mother's Day and buried yesterday. "You don't need them for hunting."

"Disturbing findings." What's so disturbing about the fact that barely adequate .38 Specials, using, I'll guarantee you, cheap Wolf FMJ ammunition are the most confiscated? It'd be better to be back in the old days where anyone with $500 could get a full-auto Uzi? Or when 4 to 5 TIMES the amount of illegal guns were confiscated by far less law enforcement operations? What amazed me, was the paucity of guns taken from criminals, as I was laboring under the false impression that since the greater NY area includes 16 million people there'd be tens of thousands of firearms confiscated each year.

Also, see if YOU can find WHO the guns were confiscated from. Liberal rags are quick to list the manufacturers, but try and find the person behind the felony. What, 98% are disadvantaged yutes, and THEY shouldn't be blamed?

Next up on the liberal agenda, the real reason for minority grade schoolers not reading or writing very well is because of Anaconda's #2 pencil, so let's BAN those awful tools, too.

PS: How many of the Glocks found in the hands of criminals were taken from police officers? Since 10% of all LE shooting deaths are from their own weapons, betcha a lot.
